1. The home survey (45 minutes)

Once you book online or by phone, we send a confirmation by SMS and email. A fully insured Purer Aqua surveyor visits at the agreed time. We ask that both decision-makers in the household are present — it’s the simplest way to leave with a decision you’re both comfortable with.

We test your water on the spot

A hardness test strip on your kitchen tap takes 90 seconds. You see your actual ppm reading and what it means.

We quantify the cost of doing nothing

Based on your hardness, boiler, family size and appliances, we estimate your current annual cost of hard water. Most Oxfordshire homes land between £700 and £1,100.

We walk through the install

Where the softener fits, how the drain runs, what we change and what stays the same. No surprises on the day.

You get a fixed-price quote

Written, sent to your email before we leave. No moving target. Take it home and decide in your own time.

2. Booking the installation

Once you decide, we book your install at a time that suits you. Typically within 7–14 days. We notify Thames Water of the install on your behalf — it’s a regulatory requirement under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 that informal plumbers often skip.

3. Installation day (one morning)

On the agreed morning your installer arrives at the time slot booked. Most installs complete in 2-3 hours. We dust-sheet the work area, isolate the supply, run the drain, fit the bypass valve and inlet/outlet hoses, pressure-test, fill with your first 25kg of salt, and commission the system. You will have soft water on every tap before lunch – except the cold kitchen tap, which we leave on the original mains for drinking water.

1.

Isolation

We isolate the mains cold supply at the stopcock, drain the run, and prepare for the cut-in.

2.

Fitting

The softener positions under the sink with a bypass valve, inlet and outlet hoses, and a drain connection. Roughly two hours of work.

3.

Commissioning

Pressure test. Fill the brine tank with your first 25kg of Purer Aqua salt. Test soft water flow. Walk you through the controls.

What you’ll have by lunchtime: soft water on every tap except the cold kitchen tap (which we leave on the original mains for drinking).

£33 per delivery

Delivered every 8 weeks. Direct Debit set up at install via GoCardless.

Total flexibility

Skip a delivery. Pause for a month. Change frequency. Three clicks in your customer portal.

Annual prepay option

Save 10% by paying for the year in one go. Same flexibility, lower per-delivery cost.

4. The salt subscription

Your softener uses a small amount of food-grade salt to regenerate its resin. We deliver branded Purer Aqua salt every 8 weeks by Direct Debit. The first three deliveries are included in your install price.

5. Ongoing service

An optional annual service contract at £95/year covers a full system check, resin test, settings optimisation, and any minor adjustment.

We expect most customers will take it – it keeps the 10-year guarantee continuously valid.

What we don't do

We don’t cold call. We don’t doorstep. We don’t time-pressure you on the day. We don’t use commission salespeople.
